General

Do you offer free quotes?

Yes. We'll come out, look at the job and give you a clear written quote at no cost and with no obligation.

What areas do you service?

The Gold Coast, all of Brisbane south of the river, Logan, Redland, Ipswich and out through the Scenic Rim to Kalbar and Boonah. If you're unsure, give us a call.

How much experience do you have?

JMAC is a family business with more than 30 years of painting experience across homes, commercial buildings and heritage sites throughout Australia.

Do you work on commercial and strata properties?

Yes. We work on homes, strata complexes, commercial buildings, and with builders on new construction.

Are you licensed?

Yes. Our QBCC licence number is [QBCC].

Do you offer colour consultations?

Yes, free of charge. We'll help you choose colours that suit the home, the light and the street.

What paint brands do you use?

[Add the brands JMAC uses, e.g. Dulux, Taubmans or Haymes, and why.]

Do you clean up after the job?

Yes. We clean up at the end of each day and do a full clean-up and walkthrough with you when the job is finished.

Roof Restorations

How do I know if my roof needs restoring or replacing?

If the roof structure is sound and most tiles or sheets are in good condition, a restoration is usually the better value. Signs it's time include faded or patchy colour, moss or mould, cracked tiles, crumbling ridge pointing and leaks. We'll inspect it and tell you honestly which option makes sense.

How long does a roof restoration take?

Most homes take a few days, depending on the size of the roof, how much repair work is needed and the weather. We'll give you a timeframe with your quote.

Can you restore metal roofs?

Yes. We treat rust, replace worn screws and damaged sheets where needed, then prime and coat the roof.

Can I change the colour of my roof?

Yes. A restoration is a good chance to update the look of the house. We offer free colour consultations to help you choose.

Exterior Painting

How often should I repaint the outside of my house?

It depends on the surface, the paint used and how exposed the home is, but around 7 to 10 years is common. Homes close to the beach or in full sun may need it sooner.

Do I need to be home while you paint?

No. Many customers are at work while we're on site. We just need access to the outside of the house and a way to contact you.

What happens if it rains?

We keep an eye on the forecast and won't apply paint in conditions that would affect the finish. If weather holds us up, we'll let you know and adjust the schedule.

Do you paint roofs as part of an exterior repaint?

Yes. Many customers pair an exterior repaint with a roof restoration so the whole house is done at once.

Interior Painting

Do I need to move my furniture?

It helps if you can clear small items and breakables. We'll move larger furniture to the middle of the room and cover it.

How long does it take to paint the inside of a house?

A single room can take a day or two. A full interior repaint usually takes a week or more, depending on the size of the home and the amount of prep needed.

Can you paint while we're living in the house?

Yes. Most of our interior work is in occupied homes. We work room by room so you can keep using the house.

Do you offer colour consultations?

Yes, free of charge. We'll help you choose colours that suit the light, the rooms and the rest of the house.

Epoxy Floors

How long before I can use my garage?

Usually you can walk on the floor within a day or so, and drive on it after several days once it has fully cured. We'll give you exact times for the system we use on your floor.

Is an epoxy floor slippery?

A smooth gloss finish can be slippery when wet. We can add an anti-slip additive or a flake finish for extra grip.

Can you coat over an old painted or epoxy floor?

Sometimes. It depends on how well the existing coating is bonded. In most cases we grind it back to give the new system the best chance of lasting.

Do you do commercial and warehouse floors?

Yes. We coat floors in warehouses, workshops, showrooms and other commercial spaces.

Heritage Painting

Can you safely remove lead paint?

Yes. We're trained in safe lead paint handling. We test, contain the work area, use the right removal methods and dispose of the waste correctly.

How do I know if my house has lead paint?

Homes built or painted before the 1970s are likely to have lead-based paint somewhere in the layers. We can test it before any sanding or scraping starts.

Do you work on heritage-listed buildings?

Yes. We've worked on heritage-listed homes and public buildings. Approvals are usually arranged by the owner, and we're happy to work with your architect or council on the requirements.

Can you help choose a period colour scheme?

Yes. We offer free colour consultations and can help you choose a scheme that suits the age and style of the building.

Woodwork

Can you paint or stain timber decks?

Yes. We clean, sand and repair decks, then finish them with a stain, oil or paint to suit the timber and how much foot traffic it gets.

Can you paint just the doors and trims?

Yes. We do woodwork as a stand-alone job, or as part of a bigger interior or exterior repaint.

Can you paint aluminium window frames?

Yes. With the right prep and primer, aluminium frames can be painted to refresh or change their colour.

How long does woodwork painting take?

It depends on how much there is and its condition. A few doors and trims might take a day or two, while a full house of windows or a large deck takes longer. We'll give you a timeframe with your quote.
